Frequently asked questions
Straightforward answers about mileage records, reports, privacy, plans, and how RoadStance supports review by you or your accountant.
What is RoadStance?
RoadStance is a privacy-first mileage and vehicle record-keeping app for individuals and small businesses. It records trips, supports receipt capture, and produces reports for review with a qualified tax professional.
Which tax jurisdictions does RoadStance support?
RoadStance supports workflows for the IRS in the United States, CRA in Canada, HMRC in the United Kingdom, and ATO in Australia. Units, fiscal-year behavior, odometer expectations, and personal-trip handling vary by jurisdiction. See the CRA Logbook FAQfor Canada-specific details.
What does RoadStance include in a report?
Reports can include trip dates, times, locations, business purpose, distance, vehicle information, odometer context, evidence quality, confirmation timing, receipts, and a QR Report Data Check. Available fields depend on the report type and selected options.
How does an accountant use the QR Report Data Check?
Scan the QR code on a PDF with any phone camera or QR scanner, review the selected values shown in the browser, and compare them with the printed report. No RoadStance account or app is required. A PASS means the fingerprint-covered QR values are internally consistent; it does not authenticate the issuer or inspect the complete PDF.
Where is my data stored?
Trip and receipt records are designed to remain on your device. The app can use selected external services for functions such as maps, geocoding, routing, crash diagnostics, and optional user-controlled backup. See Privacy & backup for the details.
What is included in Free and Pro?
The Free plan includes the introductory workflow and a defined report allowance. Pro removes the recurring limits and adds professional report workflows, expanded vehicles and receipts, and other eligible features. See Plans for the current comparison.
Does RoadStance provide tax advice?
No. RoadStance provides record-keeping tools and general product information. It does not calculate taxes, guarantee deductions, certify compliance, or replace advice from a qualified accountant or tax professional.
