CRA Logbook FAQ
RoadStance supports the CRA full-logbook method. This page explains what the app records today and what remains outside the product.
Do we need CRA simplified logbook support to be compliant?
Not necessarily. The simplified logbook is an optional method. Many filers use full-year detailed records under the full-logbook pathway. RoadStance intentionally supports one record-keeping pathway: the full logbook.
Which CRA method does RoadStance support?
RoadStance supports the full-logbook workflow, including:
- Trip-by-trip records with date, time, destination, purpose, and distance
- Per-vehicle separation of records
- Odometer period checks for report readiness
- Receipt linking as supporting evidence
What is not automated in RoadStance?
The optional simplified sample-logbook workflow is not automated, including base-year and sample-period ratio calculations.
What if my accountant prefers the simplified method?
You can use RoadStance for full-logbook records and maintain any simplified-method calculations separately with your accountant.
Is RoadStance providing tax advice?
No. RoadStance provides record-keeping tools. Tax treatment depends on each taxpayer's facts, so confirm filing positions and method suitability with a qualified advisor.
